I hope everyone had a great graduation week! Thanks to those parents that helped out with chaperoning the graduation ceremony - the band sounded great!
As we close out this year, I want to reiterate my thanks to all the parents that helped out this year, all the sponsors and golden boosters that donated to this program, and of course, the students for all their hard work. We truly have a great community.
This will be the last newsletter sent out to the existing band before we move our seniors on and bring in our new members. One last congratulations to our graduates. And to those returning, I look forward to another great year with you all. We've already begun planning for next year, so stay tuned as information comes out over the next couple months into band camp.
The big thing coming this year is the new requirement that band students get physicals. I'll be sending out more details this week to include our new students, but Mr. Sayre has a link below to the form if anyone wants to get a jump on this. These physical forms will be be required before band camp, so plan accordingly. More details to come this week.
I otherwise do not have anything for you all this week, but make sure to read through Mr. Sayre's section below.
Have a great summer!
Here's what I have for you all this week:

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!

Hello Eagle Band Community!
Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
Congratulations on a great Graduation Week. As we close out the school year, we are already fully preparing for next season. This week we will begin passing out music for next year and checking out instruments for the summer. There is a lot to look forward to, and we will continue meeting for zero hour this week to help maintain consistency and keep everyone focused heading into finals.
New student leaders, officers, and representatives will have a meeting before school on Tuesday morning at 7:00 AM in the band room. We will discuss summer plans and distribute materials for your sections.
Here is this week at a glance:
Monday: Memorial Day — No School
Tuesday: Zero Hour for all students, Leadership Meeting BEFORE school at 7:00 AM
Wednesday: Zero Hour for all students — Instrument Check Out/Return
Thursday: Zero Hour for all students — Instrument Check Out/Return
Friday: Make-Up Finals — Only for students needing to make up finals
What you need to prep for next year:
Make sure you and your adults are subscribed to the Eldorado Band Google Calendar. This will automatically populate all relevant dates and times into your calendar for next year.
Practice and learn your music! We have several new pep tunes and some very challenging show music. Percussionists — make sure you are practicing the exercises Mr. Cuevas passed out.
Make sure you are signed up for the Google Classrooms. We have one for the Golden Eagle Marching Band and one specifically for the Percussion Section.
Stay in contact with your student leaders. They have events planned over the summer and want to make you part of the band community.
Make sure you complete a physical before Band Camp. You will need to bring the physical form with you to your medical practitioner.
A few changes for the upcoming year:
New members must complete the Band Participation Contract. Linked here:

All students must complete a physical examination. This is a new requirement from the Athletic Director and will help ensure the health and safety of all participants. Physical forms can be found here:

Band Camp start times will be a little earlier than in previous years. We will begin at 7:00 AM so we can beat some of the summer heat. This summer is already looking like it will be a hot one, and we want to keep everyone cooler longer while still getting great work accomplished.
Sheet music for pep tunes and show music is now ready for everyone. Incoming 9th graders should receive music from their section leaders. Current Eldorado students will receive updated music Tuesday morning during zero hour and should replace the music currently in their flip folders.
Please note that part assignments may be different from what you previously played. The assignments you receive now are the parts you will retain throughout the season.
Memorization of show music is a must! You can and should begin memorizing now. The more prepared you are musically before Band Camp, the more we can focus on the physical skills and performance aspects required for the marching production.
Thank you all for your hard work and commitment this year. We are already excited about what this next chapter of Eagle Band will become.
Go Eagles!
Mr. Sayre
