Congratulations everyone for making through band camp! Whether it's your first one or your last one - it's a lot of work, and you should be proud of the effort you put into it. The band looked great yesterday, and I'm excited to see this show unfold this year.
Thanks to all the parents that came out for the parent meeting. I know it was alot of information - especially if you are new to the program. Just remember, the boosters are always here to answer any questions you have along the way, and our website contains tons of information. Thanks for all the great questions!
Now that we have a couple weeks before schools starts, take the time to rest up. You earned it.
This week, I still have plenty of things to cover, so please make sure you read through everything. There is a lot going on right now, and a lot to accomplish as we move into the school year and the marching season. So thanks in advance for your patience and attention
Let's get into it.
Here's what I have for you all this week:
Summer Fundraising Campaign - as I stated at the parent meeting - the more we raise by 8/15, the less your shared costs will be. PLEASE get the word out for donations.
Uniform Update - a word from our uniform chair regarding shoes and students not yet fitted for uniforms
Supply Donations - we've setup an Amazon wishlist of supplies the band program needs this year, if you are able to help out
Social Media - I forgot to mention our socials during the meeting yesterday - if you are on Facebook or Instagram, here are the details on how to follow
Chaperone Meeting - We'll be holding a chaperone training meeting again this year for those planning or thinking of chaperoning
Volunteer Opportunities - Nothing new this week, but plenty to come, so stay tuned. Get those background checks done sooner than later!
And a word from Mr. Sayre - always make time to read through this section
Nothing this week - enjoy the break and rest up!
We are currently sitting at almost $24,000 for our summer fundraising. The minimum we need to raise to keep the season affordable is $45,000 between Golden Boosters and Business Sponsorships combined, which means we still need to raise another $21,000.
This fundraiser benefits everyone in the band, so it takes everyone to do their part to help us get there. We have our website pages, Business Sponsor letter, and social media posts that you can use to get the word out to family, friends, etc. Every little bit adds up to help us get there. Huge thanks to everyone that has donated so far!
Here are all the details:
Golden Boosters - all the details, including the link to donate, is located on our Golden Boosters page.
Business Sponsorships - if you are looking to sponsor, or know a business that may be interested in sponsoring the band this year, all the details are on the Sponsorships page. There is also a link to a letter from the boosters you can take or send to businesses that may be interested explaining how sponsorships work that is available on that page (I've also linked it here for your convenience)
Business Sponsorship Letter
Sponsorships must be submitted by August 15th. Additionally, August 15th is when we will be setting the shared costs for families, so any Golden Booster donations need to be made by that date in order for them to count toward that process. After that date, we will have to finalize our operating budget for the year and set the shared costs charged to student accounts.
We had a great time issuing uniforms to students during Band Camp! Thank you so much to all the wonderful volunteers that helped this week! We could not have gotten it done without you! I would like to introduce the two band parents who will be taking over as Co-Uniform Chairs next year, Margie Campbell and Amanda Slade. They've both been helping with uniforms since last year, and will be shadowing in the position this year. The Eldorado Band will be in great hands with these ladies!
If your student did not get sized for marching shoes, please email me their shoe size ASAP. I will be ordering shoes this week. All freshmen and new members need shoes. Returning members only need new shoes if they've outgrown theirs.
For students that did not get sized for uniforms—due to missing band camp or being new to the program—I plan on coming in on the 17th during sectionals (4pm) and the 18th during zero hour. Please plan to look for me at one of those times to get a uniform assigned. The first football game is on 7/21, so it's important to resolve any issues before then.
Every year we have to cleanup our chaperone backpacks and resupply them. We also have various other supplies that the band program needs throughout the year. We have setup an Amazon wishlist containing these items. If you are able to help out with any donations, please take a look at the list and consider purchasing one or more if these supplies for us. You can view the wishlist at the link below:

We have renewed our efforts to have a bigger presence on social media this year. We have a presence on Facebook and Instagram, and have parents who are committed to posting there regularly. If you want to follow us on either, or both, the details are below:
Facebook: Our page is named "Golden Eagles Marching Band", and can be found at this link: https://www.facebook.com/EldoradoEaglesBand
Instagram: This is the instagram page for parents (the students have their own managed by students). Follow @eldoradogoldeneagles
A Chaperone Orientation meeting will be held August 13th at 6pm hosted at the Cruver's home. This is not mandatory but highly recommended. There will be a brief social time from 6-6:30pm. The informational portion of the meeting will begin at 6:30pm. We will go over expectations of chaperone duties and the chaperone bags. Appetizers and soft drinks will be provided. This is a great chance to get to know the other parent volunteers and be ready for the start of a busy band season. If you signed up at the family picnic or the parent showcase you will receive an email with the details for the event. If you would like to attend but didn't get a chance to sign up at one of the previous events please email Shelby at secretary@eldorado.band.
We don't currently have any active signups. But there WILL be plenty to come, so stay tuned. You will also be able to see these anytime on the Volunteering page of the website.
While we have a break before school, take this time to complete your background clearance, or renew it if it is expiring soon. All the instructions are on our How To Volunteer page. If you plan to volunteer for ANYTHING this year, please take the time to complete this process. We need lots of parental help each year, so thanks in advance for getting your paperwork in ASAP.

Hello Eagles!
Big congratulations on a successful band camp performance on Saturday. It was wonderful to meet so many new faces and reconnect with familiar ones. Most importantly, thank you to our students for pushing through a busy few weeks and finishing strong.
We also want to give a huge thank you to the parent volunteers who helped make band camp a success. Thank you to Lori Van Note and her team for uniforms, Milissa Steeves for providing popsicles and water, Lorrie Black for helping with office duties, and so many others who gave their time and energy for our students. We are truly grateful for your support.
Enjoy a restful week before school starts. Our first day back is August 7th, and freshman orientation is on August 6th. We will not perform at freshman orientation this year, as the school is updating the process.
I will be in the band room throughout the week setting up the sound system and wiring the Field Percussion Ensemble. I will post an announcement on Google Classroom when I am there, and anyone who would like to help and learn more about the sound system wiring is welcome to stop by.
Absence Documentation Form: If you need to document an upcoming absence, please have a parent or guardian complete this form. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc42VMZjF7NoQFe_4e9lyEOxSMllVRNT9a077NswTx96cWjjg/viewform
This link is also available on the website home page as a Quick Link, and on the Forms page in case you ever need to find it.
Students, please spend some time this week practicing your instrument and memorizing the show. We will have a memorization test early in the school year, so it is important to stay ahead of that. Please also continue working on your strength-building dance exercises.
Have a restful and productive week.
Go Eagles!
Mr. Sayre
