I want to say thanks to these kids for putting in so much hard work this weekend.  They sound great.  I also want to thank all the parents who put in time to volunteer - it's amazing to be part of such a great community.

A few things going on this week, including our Il Vicino day tomorrow, and Homecoming game on Thursday night.

• Spring Trip Registration - Spring Trip registration is open - registrations are due by 9/15 - but please don't wait until then 🙂

Monday 8/24

• ALL DAY - Il Vicino Restaurant Night - see the Restaurant Nights page for the details.

Tuesday 8/25

• 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM - Tuesday Afternoon Rehearsal

Wednesday 8/26

• 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM - Color Guard Class

Thursday 8/27

• Homecoming Assembly

• 7:00 PM - Football Game vs. Albuquerque High (Home) - Wilson Stadium - Report Time: 4:45 PM in the band room (more details in Mr. Sayre's section), same uniform as last game

Spring Trip Registration

Spring Trip registration is open.  We're going to San Antonio, TX this year, and it's shaping up to be a great trip.  Deadline to register is 9/15.  Please register as early as possible so we can properly plan around numbers - this can be difficult if everyone signs up in the last couple of days.

Volunteer Opportunities

We are now using Cut Time to manage our volunteer signups.  This system allows you to signup for volunteering at events within the same place as you get your announcements, finances, etc.

Remember, if you want to volunteer at any time this year, please get your background clearance started now so you are ready to go.  It's easy - all the details are on the How To Volunteer page.

Currently available signups:

• Thursday, 8/27 - Football Game vs. Albuquerque High (Chaperone and Hydration)

• Friday, 9/4 - Football Game vs. Sandia (Chaperone and Hydration)

• Saturday, 9/5 - Fall Car Wash

a word from Mr. Sayre...

Greetings Eagles!

Great job pushing through a busy week. This is the kind of work that will pay off in a few weeks when we are able to spend more time working out the details of the marching show.

A big thank you to all of the parents who helped with uniforms, snacks, hydration, chaperoning, and moving equipment for both the football game and the March-A-Thon. The community of parents and supporters who help keep our students safe, healthy, and successful is second to none that I have worked with. Thank you for volunteering your time!

This Week at a Glance

• Monday: Fall Spirit Assembly in the morning; after-school sectionals - memorize the 2nd and 3rd movements; Il Vicino Restaurant Night

• Tuesday: Full Band Rehearsal, 4:00–6:00 PM

• Wednesday: Color Guard Class, 4:00–6:00 PM

• Thursday: Coronation Ceremony (band does not perform); Homecoming Game - Pre-Game and El Cumbanchero at halftime

• Friday: Practice

• Saturday: UNM High School Band Day registration deadline; Homecoming Dance

Fall Spirit Assembly - Monday

The Fall Spirit Assembly is Monday morning.

You will be dismissed from class at 10:25 AM and should report to the Band Room by 10:30 AM so we can take attendance, warm up, and get set up in the stands.

Wear your band shirt. Do not wear anything over your band shirt.

Homecoming Game - Thursday

There will be a Coronation Ceremony on Thursday morning. The band does not perform at this event.

For the Homecoming football game, we will perform Pre-Game and our traditional performance of El Cumbanchero at halftime.

More information about the game schedule and call time will be provided as we get closer.

UNM High School Band Day - September 12

UNM High School Band Day is Saturday, September 12. Registration is open to all high school band students and must be submitted by this Saturday.

The cost is $40, which includes admission to the game and a Spirit Marching Band T-shirt.

Coming Up - Fall Car Wash

Our Fall Car Wash is Saturday, September 5th.

Band assignments will be posted in Google Classroom. If you need to change your shift, you must find someone willing to trade shifts with you and then request the change by email before Monday, August 31st.
