Another week, another great performance. The show is almost all on the field! Very exciting to see it begin to come together as a whole, and very fun to see our students in full uniform for the first time.
Thanks to all who went out on our Mario's restaurant night last week, and again, to all the parents that volunteered this week to help make things happen. This is such a great community with amazing support for this band program.
I'm also excited to announce we have 99 students committed to going on the spring trip! It's going to be a great time. For those going on the trip, make sure you stay tuned as we work out the travel details.
And for everyone, make sure you are staying on top of your student account payments. Paying a portion each month is a good way to help make paying the balance less daunting. If you have any questions regarding your student account, please let us know.
Quick note regarding report times for performances and events: every effort is made to ensure report times in these newsletters to be accurate as of the time they are sent out. However, sometimes things change and those times need to be revised. When that happens, the directors will make sure the students know about it, but also know the band calendar is ALWAYS kept up to date with the latest info, so be sure to check that if you are ever unsure.
Here is what I have this week...

Hello Eagle Band!
Great performance at the game yesterday! It was nice to finally hear all 3 movements of the show. Big shout out and thanks to our band parents and supporters for making props, snacks, water, and uniforms for our performances! This week we will finish much of the big work for putting the show together by finishing the drill for the 3rd movement and putting in many of the visual final touches in the show. A big portion of our final touches are going to take place at our Saturday rehearsal on September 28th (more info to follow). We have gotten through much of the work and now we just have to do a few more final pushes to be ready for the Los Lunas Invitational on October 5th. We also have to get students registered for Allstate Auditions! Right now is an exciting time to be in the Eagle Band!
Class music and homework material reminders:
It is important that all students turn in their Google classroom assignments. These assignments will ensure that all students are accountable for their parts/choreography in the show and adequately prepare for Allstate Auditions.
The Allstate Audition material will be learned and performance recordings will be submitted by all students except the color guard. Color Guard will have alternative assignments related their their choreography.
Students knowing their music or choreography will make rehearsals much easier for all.
A few events coming up and some info for events coming next month:
Honor Band Nominations: Students wishing to be nominated will need to let Mr. Sayre know THIS week by Wednesday if they want to be considered for District Honor Band. Nomination does not guarantee that students will be accepted. There are 2 bands - a Sophomore/Freshman band and a Senior/Junior Band - so all grade levels will be considered although Sophomores and Seniors may take priority. Honor band will be on November 22-24 with a concert on that Sunday.
Game on Friday September 27th: 8th Grade Game! Make sure you are ready to hype up the band! We are looking at upwards of 90 to 100 guests with us. Call time is at 4:45 - wear bibbers, long black socks, and marching shoes. Performance shirt will be worn for the performance.
Saturday Rehearsal on September 28: This is the same format as last year. We will start at 9AM and go until 4PM. Depending on how the game on Friday night shakes out we may adjust the call time. If that happens that information will come directly from Jeremy Dencklau. For the rehearsal itself we will use this time to adjust, add, and make better all the elements of the show that we can. Lunch will be on your own (like at band camp).
Los Lunas Invitational: Is on October 5th: We tentatively have a 9:00 AM call time so we can do a quick rehearsal on the marching field. Our performance will be at 12:40 PM. The event planners changed the event to the middle of the day to help avoid the difficulty of getting buses during balloon fiesta time.
Jazz Concert on October 8th: Will start at 6:30 PM. Jazz bands call time is 5:30 PM. Set up crew will be needed after school to get the stage ready. This is also a slated time for Tuesday rehearsal which we will adjust timing and rehearsal objectives to accommodate for.
Allstate Auditions: A link will be sent out soon for students to register for Allstate Auditions. Students will register on Cheddar Up (the payment platform used by the Boosters). Registration must be completed by October 18th for Jazz and Concert! All students will be learning the audition material regardless of whether they are auditioning.
October 26th Basha Invitational in Phoenix: We will be going to Phoenix to the Basha Invitational on October 26th instead of the NAU Band Day. The main reason being that there were some licensing issues with the company we purchased this show music from. This will not impact the cost of the trip and will only add a few hours to the beginning and end of the weekend. We are tentatively planning on a call time of 5AM in the band room on this date. We will stay the night in a hotel and be back in the afternoon/evening the 27th.
Please continue to report absences using the ABSENCE REQUEST and DOCUMENTATION form.
Go Eagles!
