What a weekend! Doing a football game AND Zia in that wild weather - quite an experience. Great job to the band yesterday at Zia - you performed great and represented Eldorado well. Thanks for all your hard work.
Also, huge thanks to all the volunteers and staff that worked to make yesterday come together. Zia is a big logistical undertaking, especially for a band of our size, and we just could not have done it without the nearly 50 parent volunteers and staff giving up their Saturday to feed and hydrate, chaperone, move equipment, maintain uniforms, shelter instruments/cases, and generally support and encourage the kids through a very long day. THANK YOU!
We have another big week ahead of us. Marching MPA is on Wednesday, and is FREE for spectators! Then Arizona over the weekend - make sure to get those permissions slips in ASAP! You will not be able to signup for a bus for the trip until that permission slip is turned in...
Let's dig into it.
Here's what I have for you all this week:

Hello Eagle Band!
You had great performances yesterday at Zia! This year’s event was a very competitive event in that a lot of really great bands were there and brought a lot of fantastic performances (just like you!). We placed 10th overall and our scores improved for finals. Big shout out to our parent volunteers for chaperoning, hydrating, feeding, accommodating, clothing, and moving our band. Without the parent volunteers and supporters we would not be able to accomplish as much as we do accomplish. Thank you!
Coming up this week we have 2 major performances- APS MPA and The Basha Invitational in Phoenix. We will have rehearsal every day and proceed as normal this week. After this week we will record Allstate Auditions, have the Halloween Game, Zero Hour B and Placements, and the Marching Awards Ceremony.
APS MPS on October 23rd at Milne Stadium: 4:45 Call time in the band room, routing/performance 7:15 PM-8:00 PM, return time of 9:30 PM. Here is the Itinerary for the event. It is free for spectators so invite all the people you want. Thanks to the volunteers that are helping run the event along with NMMEA!
Basha Invitational on October 26th in Phoenix: Call time is at 5:30 AM to check and load up, head out at 6:00 AM on bus to Phoenix, performance at 7:45 PM in Phoenix, return in the afternoon/evening next day between 4-5 PM. Here is the itinerary for Phoenix. I will also be sending home another permission form for families to sign. YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SIGN UP FOR A BUS UNTIL YOU HAVE TURNED IN THE NEW PERMISSION FORM.
Halloween Game: is on November 2nd at our day game vs Atrisco Heritage Academy. Make sure you coordinate with section leaders for your section’s theme. Make sure your costumes are appropriate for an educational setting and respectful of others.
Zero Hour Band Placements: will happen at the end of October and just before Allstate audition recordings. Material will be from the Allstate Etudes as well as a full range chromatic scale.
Allstate Audition recording times: for JAZZ will be in class. For CONCERT will be after school between 10/30 and 11/6.
