Weekly Newsletter - September 24, 2023
Great performance yesterday! We have the show on the field - a great accomplishment.
As usual, thanks to the parent chaperone volunteers, hydration volunteers, and food/fun volunteers that make these performances happen. We really can't do it without everyone's help.
And don't forget - today is the last day for spring trip commitment. Make sure you provide me the commitment requirements on the Spring Trip page by the end of today. If you have already gotten a hold of me to work through technical issues, don't worry - you are already on my list.
And don't forget our Grassburger restaurant night this Wednesday!

AND a word from Mr. Sayre...
Hello Eagle Band Community!
Thank you for demonstrating patience and pushing through to put on a great halftime show on Saturday. Putting the marching production together is a process and we are fortunate to get plenty of opportunities to showcase our progress at all the home and away games that are in town. Our first marching festival performance is on Saturday October 7th at Los Lunas High School and as we prepare for it we are going to add visual moments in the show that enhance the overall presentation and clean up some of the parts that we haven't touched in a while. We will also be increasing the tempos to performance tempo and weaning ourselves off the metronome. This Saturday's rehearsal is an important step in getting the show to where it will eventually be for our evaluations.
Here is some important information for the upcoming week:
Game on Friday vs La Cueva: This should be a fun game as we get to perform our show and see the excellent work of our friends at La Cueva. Call time is at 5:00pm and buses will take us over at 5:30pm. We will arrive early enough to support the performance of La Cueva Band and show our best qualities. In terms of rivalry we should let the football teams be rivals. The bands support each other and lift each other up.
UNM Spirit Marching Band members will be joining us on Friday: About 15-20 college performers will be joining us on Friday! Some are alumni and some are here to just have a good time. Please be welcoming and have some fun!
Scott Montoya rehearsal this Saturday: Rehearsal starts 9:00am and goes until 4:00pm. Students should plan lunch the same way they did during band camp (pack a lunch or plan to get food). This is a vital rehearsal time with an awesome individual that is here to make you look as great as possible and add ideas to make our show more impactful.
Take care of yourself!: It is worth acknowledging that some illness has been going around in the school. Do what you need to do to keep yourself healthy. Additionally you should keep in contact with the directors and your section leaders if you have to miss rehearsal for health reasons so that you know what you need to catch up on.
Most Improved
Aiden Harberts
For demonstrating that you care for those in the band and that you are here to connect and get better. We appreciate you.
Most Spirited
Isaiah Williams
Isaiah ALWAYS comes to school with a smile and works his best. Isaiah exemplifies a great attitude.
Knows Their Sets The Best
Benjamin Wood
Bro doesn't even have sets to march.
Best Stanky Leg
Brom Stewart
Good work moving your legs.
Best Trombone Solo
Alex Mamaluy: Junior Trombone Player
Really it’s our only trombone solo in marching band… except for those times that other trombone players accidentally play when they aren’t supposed to.
Outstanding Section
Battery!
For working to be the first section to know your music so the band can follow your example and learn the show better.
Exemplary Member
Dustin Gutierrez: Junior Saxophone Player
For playing like a champion and going above to make your section sound and look amazing.
GO EAGLES!
