Weekly Newsletter - OCTOBER 1, 2023

Band-tober is officially here!  It's time for the whirlwind that is October and marching band.

I was personally very impressed with the performance this past Friday night.  The show is really coming together, and I'm sure even more progress was made yesterday during the all-day rehearsal.

Once again, thanks to all our parent volunteers that helped out on Friday (as well as the rehearsal on Saturday).  We will have plenty of volunteer opportunities coming up with games, competitions, and assessments all on the horizon this month.  See the volunteering section below (ALWAYS on the website) for ways you can help out this month - especially for MPA.  We have a real need there.

What's in this newsletter?

Here's what I have for you all this week:

This week in band...

Monday 10/2

Tuesday 10/3

Wednesday 10/4

Thursday 10/5

Friday 10/6

Now on to the details...

Volunteer Opportunities

Here is a list of all active volunteer opportunities.  These are also always available on the Volunteering page.

URGENT - we really need more volunteers to help run the marching performance assessment event, and for those that have signed up for that, remember there is a meeting this Wed evening to discuss the details.

Have a great week!

Go Eagles!

AND a word from Mr. Sayre...

Hello Eagle Band Community!

A huge shout-out goes to the parents and volunteers that helped us out all day on Saturday and to the University of New Mexico Spirit Marching Band for joining us at the game and supporting our band on Friday.  Also, great work at rehearsal on Saturday.  That was one of the final steps in putting the show together. Now we need to clarify and review the additions to the show and make it great for Saturday's performance at the Los Lunas Invitational.  Here is some information for you about some upcoming deadlines and performances this week:

Allstate Audition Registration is this week!

The directors will have a sign up sheet.  The Allstate audition material is also what we will use for Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band auditions and every member of the band must learn the etudes anyway for a grade.  Despite whether you believe you can make Allstate or not, the audition process has a lot of educational value for you as a musician.

8th Grade Game Friday!

We will be welcoming many students from the middle school to our band.  This is a great opportunity to keep the band growing and to have some fun playing with some guests.

Los Lunas Invitational Itinerary for Saturday:

Here is the itinerary for Saturday's rehearsal and performance.  Unloading the truck from the game before will start at 12:15 so we can start rehearsal on time. Call time will be 1:00pm in the afternoon on the field for a short rehearsal and run through.
