Weekly Newsletter - OCTOBER 29, 2023

We are all so proud of our kids for their performances yesterday.  They capped off a long season of hard work with 2 excellent shows.

I want to thank ALL the parent volunteers - hydration, chaperones, food/fun, uniforms, everyone that made this season possible, but especially yesterday.  Zia is a long day, and all the parents stepped up big time.

A special thanks to April and Jim Deangelo, our food & fun chairs, along with ALL the food & fun volunteers for doing such an amazing job of feeding everyone yesterday, and at all the competitions and football games this season.  The kids were very well fed this year, and its all thanks to your dedication and hard work.

Marching season may be done, but we still have 7 great months of band left (although not nearly as frantic).  For this week though, I only have a few things for you...

What's in this newsletter?

Here's what I have for you all this week:

This week in band...

Wednesday 11/1

Thursday 11/2

Now on to the details...

Luminaria Sale

Our annual Luminaria sale fundraiser is open.  This is a fundraiser we do every year and is a great way to connect with our community and raise some money for the band program.  We will have the sale open until Thanksgiving.  Here is the link to order luminarias in our band store - share it with family and friends!
https://eldoradoband.revtrak.net/fundraising

There is also a Facebook post you can share from our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/EldoradoEaglesBand/
In December, we will have a build day, where the students will get together and we will build all the luminarias - be on the lookout for the details of when that will be.
Also, if you are able to help us out by folding luminaria bags, please let me know ASAP.

Yearbook Pre-order

What a great day at Zia! I bet there were some awesome pictures taken by families AND students (I saw many selfies happening). Please share them to yearbooks@eldorado.band within the next week so they make it into the band yearbook.

Also, the band yearbook is currently in the works!  TreeRing has our yearbook on sale for 10% off until 10/31. If you would like to take part in the savings visit TreeRing.com and enter passcode: 1016667234694117 .

Purchasers will need to create an account. If you ordered a book last year, use your same login. The 90 page, full color yearbook will be handed out at the band banquet in May.  Email yearbooks@eldorado.band with any questions or send pictures.

Volunteer Opportunities

No active signups this week!  Enjoy the break :)

Have a great week!

Go Eagles!

AND a word from Mr. Sayre...

Hello Eagle Band Community!

The directors are proud of the work and dedication you have put in this semester to put on an exceptional show and great performances! Great work at Zia yesterday! I'd like to give a huge shout out to our parents and supporters yesterday that made feeding, moving, and dressing you for the day possible.  We are a blessed community to have such strong supporters and a rich tradition of support and volunteerism. We now get to finish up with Allstate auditions and prepare for your Zero Hour Band auditions.  The audition material will be selected from the Allstate Etudes and will also include the chromatic scale in the Allstate range.

A few things for the upcoming weeks:

Voting on the Mil Levy - The Mil Levy is a unique voting measure in Albuquerque that directly benefits the music students in APS.  Approving this measure will ensure that music students in APS get uniforms, equipment, instruments, and other curricular necessities in order to ensure access to music for any student.  Our band will be getting new uniforms this next year.  I urge you to consider this when voting in our local elections.

Zero Hour Band Auditions - These will take place on Google Classroom.  You will upload a video/recording of the audition excerpts and scale onto the Google Classroom assignment.  Details of exactly what you should play for your instrument will be communicated on the assignment.  The audition must be uploaded by Tuesday November 7th.  Time during zero hour will be made between now and November 7th for students to complete the assignment in class.

Allstate Auditions - Make sure you are signed up for a recording time.  If you cannot find a time that works for you, please have a conversation with me and we will figure something out.
