Weekly Newsletter - january 28, 2024
Wow - January is already coming to a close! Every year seems to get faster and faster...
That being said, Jazz Festival is right around the corner. If you have not brought in your concessions donations, do so ASAP. Each grade is assigned a type of snack or drink so see the details of what to bring below.
Also, there is only 5 1/2 weeks until March 6th - our deadline for all fees to be paid. So stay on top of your student accounts.
What's in this newsletter?
Here's what I have for you all this week:
Jazz Festival Concessions - Keep bringing in those concessions donations for Jazz Festival. See below for what your grade level should bring in.
Basketball Pep Band - Its basketball season, and the pep band schedule is now up.
Sponsor Posters/Zia Finalist Patches - We have a couple of items to distribute to some students.
Charms Retirement - We are officially off of Charms for communications. Let us know if you are not receiving communications in Cut Time.
Student Accounts - Stay on top of those band payments - especially if you are going on spring trip.
Volunteer Opportunities - Jazz Festival signups are up!
And a word from Mr. Sayre - as always, make sure you read through this section.

Jazz Festival Concessions
We will have a concession table at the Jazz Festival and rely on donations from our band families. We have it divided by grade level to make things a little easier. Everything needs to be individually wrapped. Please bring donations to the band room over these next few weeks. This is a great fundraiser for the band, so thanks in advance for your help.
Freshmen - Sodas (No energy drinks, please); Also, we do NOT need bottled water donations
Sophomores - Sweets; candy, candy bars, rice crispy treats, cookies, etc.
Juniors - Salty snacks; chips & crackers of all types, etc.
Seniors - Sweets; candy, candy bars, rice crispy treats, cookies, etc.
Basketball Pep Band
It is basketball season! We will be providing a pep band to 6 games this year. There is a pep band A and B and each student is assigned to one. If you are unsure which band you are assigned to, contact one of the directors.
The schedule is on the band calendar, but here it is for quick reference. Times listed are tip-off times - report time is always 45 minutes prior to tip-off.
Tuesday, 1/30, 7 PM - Pep Band A
Friday, 2/2, 6 PM - Pep Band B
Wednesday, 2/7, 7 PM - Pep Band A
Saturday, 2/10, 2 PM - Pep Band B

Saturday, 2/24, 2 PM - Pep Band B
Sponsor Posters/Zia Finalist Patches
I have a couple of things that will be available this week for distribution to certain students - these will be in the band room this week.
If you were able to secure a sponsorship earlier in the year, we have our band posters for them in and available for distribution. I have them labelled to the student that was credited with the sponsorship. If you were one of those students, please pick up your poster(s) this week and bring them to those businesses as a thank you.
If you ordered a Zia Finalist patch from us earlier, they FINALLY came in. If you were one of those students, please pick up your patch this week.
Charms Retirement
We are officially migrated off of Charms for communications. All future communications will be sent via Cut Time. If you or someone you know are no longer receiving our communications, fill out the Contact Information Form or email me at president@eldorado.band as soon as possible to ensure that your contact information is correct.
Student Accounts
We are down to just 5 1/2 weeks away from the 3/6/24 deadline to have ALL fees paid. Please make sure you are staying on top of your student accounts. Statements will be going out this week.
NOTE: If your student travelled to Las Cruces for Jazz All-State, the travel costs have been added to the accounts.
A couple of reminders regarding accounts and fees:
The majority of the performance fees we charge are expensed during marching season, so the booster program fronts those costs but allows you to pay them over time as a convenience.
If you are attending spring trip, ALL fees - spring trip fees, performance fees, direct charges (uniforms, all-state fees, etc.) - must be paid by March 6, 2024 to remain eligible.
Any unpaid balances at the end of the school year do rollover to the next year.
Volunteer Opportunities
There are AMPLE opportunities to volunteer for Jazz Festival - it takes a small army to pull off those 3 days. The schedule is broken up into small, manageable time chunks that hopefully fit in to most schedules. The jobs include everything from Apparel sales, concessions, director check-in, ticket sales, to setup/cleanup. Please checkout the signup schedule below and grab your slot today!

AND a word from Mr. Sayre...
Hello Eagle Band Community!
The coming weeks are going to get more and more busy with our basketball games and jazz fest. Stay vigilant and keep doing your best every day! February is a big month for concert, jazz and winter guard classes because we are either performing or preparing to perform in early March.
Let us know if there is anything you need for this month.
Here is the plan for the week.
GO EAGLES!
