Weekly Newsletter - FEBRUARY 11, 2024

Jazz Festival is this week!  We are so excited - this is such a great event bringing together the entire music community for 3 days of great jazz music and learning.

On that note - we are in the home stretch and really need your help.  Please get those concessions donations in this week, and we still need a bunch of volunteer slots filled.  We can not do this without your help, and right now, we really need your help.  And remember, we have an amazing concert planned for that Saturday evening - grab your tickets today, and don't forget to spread the word on all your socials.

Also we are in the final 3 weeks before the fee deadline.  ALL fees - spring trip as well as other band fees - must be paid by 3/6/2024.  And don't forget to keep those grades up - academic eligibility also factors into spring trip (more on this from Mr. Sayre below).  If you are unsure how to pay fees, see the details below.

And don't forget about Il Vicino tomorrow - help the band out and eat delicious food.  Win win.

I know we have a lot going on - but please make sure you read through everything here.  I have a bunch for you, as does Mr. Sayre - and it's important that we all are on the same page.

Enjoy the Super Bowl!

Jazz Festival Saturday Concert

For this year’s concert, we are featuring UNM Jazz I with guest artist Delbert Anderson, and Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra with guest artist Diego Rivera. For all the details about the concert, including prices, advance purchase, and artist bios, go to the Saturday Concert Jazz Festival page.

How can you help us with this?  Get the word out - this is going to be a truly great jazz experience, so please promote this on your social medias.  We have a post on our Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/EldoradoEaglesBand/) that you can use to spread the word on that platform.

Il Vicino Restaurant Night

TOMORROW, Monday, Feb 12 is our next restaurant night, and its going to be at Il Vicino.  They are providing 20% of the sales between 11 AM and 9 PM that day.  This has been a very good event for us in the past, so please go enjoy some delicious food and support a local business and your band program at the same time.  For all the details and the flyer to bring in, go to the Restaurant Nights page.

Student Accounts

We are down to just 3 1/2 weeks away from the 3/6/24 deadline to have ALL fees paid.  Please make sure you are staying on top of your student accounts.  Statements went out this past week, so please let us know if you have any questions.

IMPORTANT! If you are unsure HOW to pay fees, you can get the instructions on how to get into the Band Store to pay them on the Fee Management page of the Handbook.  If you do NOT know your student's Charms ID, let us know and we can get that to you.  Fees have NOT been moved to Cut Time yet - all fees are still paid in the Band Store per the instructions above.

A few reminders regarding accounts and fees:

AND a word from Mr. Sayre...

Hello Eagle Band Community!

These upcoming weeks we will be doing a whole bunch. Please read carefully and be ready for a lot of commitments.

The Annual Fine Arts Assembly: this Tuesday morning and we will set up the gym during zero hour.  Wind Ensemble, Winter Guard and Jazz Band I will perform.  Wear your Concert Uniform if you are just in the Wind Ensemble.  If you are in Jazz you will wear the Jazz Band Uniform for both.  Winter Guard wears whatever May dictates.

Get the Word out about Jazz Fest: Promote the concert on Saturday evening!  We have 2 awesome guest artists, Delbert Anderson with UNM Jazz 1 and Diego Rivera with the Albuquerque Jazz Orchestra. Please promote the Jazz Fest on your social media!

People volunteering at Jazz Fest: we will have a mandatory meeting on Wednesday after school at 4:00pm to go over the festival and to set up what we need for the event.

Required attendance: EHS band students are required to attend Saturday afternoon.  EHS Jazz students are required to attend the lunchtime Clinics unless working the festival.

Basketball Band: 2/13 (A Band) and 2/24 (B Band).  If you need to get a sub please work out the details before you come talk to a director.  If you have to miss a game for a school activity or sport please find a sub before you talk to us as well.

Spring Trip and Grades: you need to get your grades up to meet eligibility requirements in order to go on the trip.  Right NOW is the time to take care of that.

Registrations for band class next year: Have Mr Sayre or Mr Snowden sign your registration cards.  We plan on all members being in the band again next year. We will send a list to the assistant principal for who is to be registered for the marching band next year.  Have a private conversation with the directors if we should consider anything other than your full participation in the marching band next year.  If we don’t hear from you we will put you on the list for next year.  Your participation is an investment for us and we want you to get as much out of this experience as possible. For that reason we value having a conversation with you about next year.
