Weekly Newsletter - MARCH 3, 2024

Sent 3/3/2024, 6:45 PM.

March is here!  This year is FLYING by...

The BIG thing for this week is fee deadline.  The deadline to pay ALL fees - spring trip, performance, direct charges, etc. - is THIS WEDNESDAY, 3/6/2024.  If you are going on the spring trip, these fees must be paid by that deadline to remain eligible, so please get those accounts down to a $0 balance.  I'm seeing 21 accounts going on the spring trip that have not zeroed out their balance.  If you are one of those, or are unsure IF you are one of those, please let me know ASAP.  If you are unsure HOW to pay your fees, also let me know that ASAP.

Congrats on a great performance by our own Everlasting Winter Guard at our annual Winter Guard Invitational on Saturday at Hoover MS, finishing 2nd in their class.

And don't forget about MPA - coming up next week.  We could still use a couple of chaperones for our bands, as well as some help running the event.  See the volunteering section below for details and links to signup.

IMPORTANT! If you are unsure HOW to pay fees, you can get the instructions on how to get into the Band Store to pay them on the Fee Management page of the Handbook.  If you do NOT know your student's Charms ID, let us know and we can get that to you.  Fees have NOT been moved to Cut Time yet - all fees are still paid in the Band Store per the instructions above.

AND a word from Mr. Sayre...

Hello Eagle Band Community!

Congrats on a successful Winter Guard Invitational on Saturday!  Huge shout out to the Guard Members for placing 2nd in their class as well! Hoover Middle School kindly allowed us to use their facility.  If you get a chance you should send a thank you to Rebecca Sanchez, principal at Hoover Middle School, for allowing us opportunity since our EHS facility wasn’t available.  Thank you to the guard members that stayed afterwards to make sure the facility was cleaner than when we arrived.

We have a lot coming up so read carefully.

Spirit Assembly on March 6 - Wear your band shirt.  Take it easy on this performance (especially those of you playing on Popejoy for the Wind Ensemble Performance).

Popejoy Concert March 6th - Wind Ensemble students must get themselves to Popejoy Hall.  Parking can be a pain so do plan in advance or get a ride to drop you off.  Call time is 5:40 PM on stage.   The back loading dock behind Popejoy should be open as well as the tunnel below the Popejoy Lobby.  Sound check and warm-up rehearsal start at 6:00 PM.  Doors open at 7:00 PM. Performance starts at 7:30 PM.  This is not a free and open to the public concert as per Popejoy rules BUT I do have 300 comp tickets for our families and non-performing band members. Tickets will be distributed this week.  If I need to reserve more tickets those will need to be picked up at Will Call before the concert.

MPA for EHS is on March 14th - Here is our Itinerary for MPA.

We will meet at the end of Lunch on Thursday in the band room then get on buses to go to Manzano HS. All 3 concert bands will be going.

Additional MPA volunteers. We are looking for volunteers that would like to help out at Manzano High School on the preceding 2 days (March 12 and 13).  They are in need of volunteers to help run packets to judges, guide bands, record performances, and set up chairs on stage.  If you would like to volunteer (parent or students) use the link above.

Academic Awards Ceremony - March 11th. We will need a small brass or woodwind ensemble to play for this event.  The group will play the National Anthem and some live music before the event starts.

GO EAGLES!
